Colby Wilson’s Atlanta Braves Report: Retro Braves

Atlanta BravesClarksville, TN As far back as I can remember, the Braves were fine. Nearly always good, occasionally great. Sure, there was that 2008 team that was underachieving and unfortunate and doesn’t bear any measure of discussion. But from the time I started paying attention to baseball, I could nearly always count on Atlanta being involved in meaningful games in August and September.

So 2015 will be slightly different.

My Two Cents: Atlanta DJ’s Went Over the Line

My Two-Cents with Hank BonecutterClarksville, TN – I know a thing or two about the public airwaves. I spent nearly forty years as a broadcaster, DJ, announcer, talk-show host, whatever they’re called now. I know firsthand how easy it is to “open mouth insert foot.” I also know how sacred the public airwaves are, spending the last 18 years of my career as the owner of a radio station.

Which makes this latest story even more disgusting to me.

During “Mayhem in the AM,” an Atlanta morning radio show, the hosts decided it would be “funny,” or “cute” to make fun of someone suffering from ALS (amyotrophic lateral sclerosis), a debilitating disease that ultimately claims the life of anyone who suffers with it. «Read the rest of this article»

Volkswagen Chattanooga Builds 100,000th Car

Chattanooga, TN — Volkswagen Chattanooga has achieved another significant production milestone – the completion of its 100,000th Passat, just nine months after the car went on sale in the U.S. The milestone Passat was handed over to its new owner in a ceremony held today with hundreds of Volkswagen employees at the Chattanooga factory.

The Passat was driven off the line by employees from the factory and into the Conference Center where an all-employee meeting was being held this morning. The keys were then handed to Volkswagen Chattanooga CEO and Chairman Frank Fischer who presented them to owner Joanne Benante, who had come from Atlanta, Georgia, to take delivery at the factory. To the cheers of the employees, she then drove her new car through the middle of the gathering and out the front doors on her way back to I-75 and south to Atlanta.
