Tennessee is competing in its eighth Sweet Sixteen all time and sixth since 2000. The Vols are 31-5 this season. That impressive record also includes a school-record 19-game winning streak, a program-record-tying three victories over top-five opponents and ties the most victories in a single season in program history.

Tennessee Volunteers face Nebraska Cornhuskers in 19th annual Music City Bowl, December 30th

 

Music City BowlNashville, TN – Representatives from the Franklin American Mortgage Music City Bowl have announced that the University of Tennessee Volunteers will represent the Southeastern Conference (SEC) in the 19th annual Bowl as they take on the University of Nebraska Cornhuskers of the Big Ten Conference.

Kickoff will be Friday, December 30th at 2:30pm CST at Nissan Stadium in Nashville Tennessee. The game will be televised live on ESPN.

“We couldn’t be more excited to welcome Nebraska and Tennessee to Nashville for the Franklin American Mortgage Music City Bowl,” said Dan Crockett, President/CEO of Franklin American Mortgage Company.

Austin Peay State University Lady Govs - APSUWest Lafayette, IN – Austin Peay State University’s volleyball team opens its 2015 season when it meets Ohio in a 3:00pm (CDT), Friday contest to open the Purdue Mortar Board Premier at Holloway Gymnasium.

The Lady Govs stay continues Saturday with a 10:00am contest against host Purdue followed by a 4:00pm matchup with VCU.

Former APSU coach Lin Dunn to be inducted into Women’s Basketball Hall of Fame

The induction ceremony will take place 6:00pm, at the Tennessee Theatre in Knoxville. Dunn will be part of six-member 2014 class that also will include: Michelle Edwards (player), Mimi Griffin (contributor), Yolanda Griffith (player), Jasmina Perazic (player), and Charlotte West (contributor).

APSU names Top Five Candidates for Athletic Director Position

 

Austin Peay State UniversityClarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University has narrowed its search for a new athletics director down to five strong candidates, and the University will begin interviewing the first two candidates on campus next week.

APSU began looking for a new AD in April when Coach Dave Loos stepped down from that position after 16 successful years. Loos remains the head coach for the men’s basketball program.

Austin Peay Governors Baseball selected as 2013 OVC Baseball’s Preseason Favorite

 

Ohio Valley ConferenceBrentwood, TN – Austin Peay State University’s baseball team will enter the 2012 campaign as the pick to win the Ohio Valley Conference’s regular-season title, as selected in the league’s preseason poll of coaches and sports information directors.

In addition, junior second baseman Jordan Hankins was selected as Preseason Co-Player of the Year.  He was joined on the Preseason All-OVC team by senior shortstop Reed Harper and senior outfielder Cody Hudson.
