#22 Tennessee Vols Basketball takes care of Vanderbilt Commodores, 67-62

Tennessee Volunteers - UT VolsKnoxville, TN – Despite a strong second half by Vanderbilt, No. 22 Tennessee held on to complete the regular-season sweep over its in-state rival, defeating the Commodores, 67-62, in Thompson-Boling Arena on Tuesday night.
 
The Commodores (7-13, 2-6 SEC) would fight back in the second half after facing a 17-point halftime deficit, using a run with eight consecutive made fields goals to pull within four points at 51-47. During the stretch, Vanderbilt senior Riley LaChance connected on four treys and had 15 straight points.

Tennessee Volunteers - UT VolsKnoxville, TN – No. 22 Tennessee returns home after a two-game road trip for a matchup with in-state rival Vanderbilt at Thompson-Boling Arena on Tuesday night. The game will tip at 6:00pm CT and will be televised live on ESPNU and streamed online via WatchESPN.

The Vols (13-5, 4-3 SEC) are coming off a road win at South Carolina, in which Lamonté Turner dropped a career-high-tying 25 points on 6-of-9 shooting from the field and converted on all 10 attempts from the charity stripe. He now has three of the four highest scoring efforts by the Vols this season, all while coming off the bench.

Tennessee Volunteers - UT VolsNashville, TN – Coming off a huge win over Kentucky, the 24th-ranked Tennessee Volunteers will look to build off that momentum Tuesday night with a matchup against in-state rival Vanderbilt at Memorial Gymnasium. The game is a 8:00pm CT tip and will be televised on SEC Network and can be streamed online via WatchESPN.

The Vols (10-4, 1-2 SEC) came from behind to earn a much-needed 76-65 victory over the No. 17 Wildcats this weekend. Junior forward Admiral Schofield posted one of his most impressive performances since coming to Rocky Top with 20 points on 8-of-13 shooting, nine rebounds, four assists, a career-high four steals and a block.

Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency Officers honored by MADD for Efforts

 

Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency - TWRANashville, TN – Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) recently honored four Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency wildlife officers during the 2017 Statewide Night of Remembrance and Awards Ceremony.

TWRA wildlife officers Greg Julian, Josh Landrum, and Jeff Roberson were honored by MADD Tennessee for their efforts on removing boating under the influence (BUI) operators from Tennessee waterways thus enhancing safety and saving lives.

Four TWRA wildlife officers were honored at the annual Mothers Against Drunk Driving Night of Remembrance and Awards Ceremony in Nashville. Pictured (from left) are Sgt. Vinny Turocy of the Tennessee High Patrol, Glenn Moates, TWRA Assistant Boating and Law Enforcement Chief, Darren Rider, TWRA Boating and Law Enforcement Chief, and honorees Jeff Roberson, Josh Landrum, Greg Julian, and Matt Majors. Vanderbilt Commodores beat Tennessee Vols, 67-56

Tennessee Volunteers - UT VolsKnoxville, TNRobert Hubbs III scored 16 points, including the 1,000th of his Tennessee career, as the Vols fell to Vanderbilt 67-56 on Wednesday at Thompson-Boling Arena.

Admiral Schofield added 11 points and Grant Williams recorded his second double-double of the season with 11 points and 10 rebounds, but a slow start and inefficient shooting prevented the Volunteers (15-13, 7-8 SEC) from climbing back into the game.

Jeff Roberson led the Commodores (14-14, 8-7 SEC) with 15 points, shooting 5-of-10 from the floor. Nolan Cressler scored 11 points, including three key second-half 3-pointers.

Tip-off is slated for 5:30pm CT on SEC Network.

Both the Vols (15-12, 7-7 SEC) and Commodores (14-13, 7-7 SEC) enter the regular season’s penultimate week coming off of wins. UT snapped a two-game skid on Saturday, picking up a 90-70 win over Missouri behind 25 points from freshman Grant Williams and 21 points from senior Robert Hubbs III. Meanwhile, Vanderbilt grabbed a 71-62 victory over then-No. 21 South Carolina in Nashville.

The Vols (8-8, 1-3 SEC) and Commodores (8-8, 2-2 SEC) are meeting for the 192nd time on Saturday night. The in-state foes met three times last season — Vanderbilt claimed both regular season meetings while Tennessee came away with a thrilling win over the ‘Dores in the SEC Tournament.

Saturday marks the second of at least three games in the Music City this season for the Vols.

Tennessee Fish and Wildlife Commission announces Water Fowl Seasons and Fishing Proposals at August meeting

 

Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency - TWRAMorristown, TN – The Tennessee Fish and Wildlife Commission approved the 2015-16 late waterfowl hunting seasons and was presented the 2016-17 state’s fishing regulations proposals at its August meeting on Friday. In addition, the participants in Tennessee’s 2015 elk hunt were announced.
