Clarksville Montgomery County Public Library to host Clarksville Youth Guitar Ensemble Tuesday, May 26th

 

Clarksville-Montgomery County Public LibraryClarksville, TN – The Clarksville Youth Guitar Orchestra will premier their debut concert in the atrium of the Clarksville-Montgomery County Public Library at 6:00pm May 26th.

Students ages 8 through 13 will be performing works from the Austin Classical Guitar Curriculum, the United States’ leaders in research on guitar education for youth.

Clarksville's Riverfest 2013Clarksville, TN – Join the City of Clarksville, Miller Lite and Agero along the banks of the Cumberland River as they celebrate Clarksville’s river heritage at the 26th annual Riverfest Celebration, September 6th and 7th, 2013.

This Free, two day music and arts festival features three stages of a variety of local, regional and nationally-known entertainers, delicious food, and fun for the entire family.

Rivers and Spires Festival to kick off it’s 10th Birthday Celebration April 19th in Downtown Clarksville

 

Rivers and Spires Festival 2012Clarksville, TN – On Thursday, April 19th at 5:00pm the 10th birthday celebration for the Rivers and Spires Festival will be getting into full swing. That night’s activities and concerts will be located on Public Square in Downtown Clarksville and are free and open to the public.

Charlie Koon elected President of the 2012 Class of Leadership Middle Tennessee

 

Leadership Middle TennesseeMurfreesboro, TN – Charlie Koon, Chief of Staff for the City of Clarksville, has been elected President of the 2012 Class of Leadership Middle Tennessee.

Koon has been committed to serving the area’s residents throughout his career.  Before joining the Mayor’s office, he held several positions with Cumberland Bank & Trust and was also the owner of Mary’s Music. His community service includes the Clarksville Chamber of Commerce, Kiwanis Club, United Way, Riverfest Entertainment Committee and Leadership Clarksville.

Discovering more than Music at Clarksville’s Kindermusik class.

 

beth-brittonThis morning Elle-Girl and I attended an event held in an upstairs practice room at the incredibly renovated new Mary’s Music Store downtown. The event was a preview Kindermusik class taught by Tiffany Hilliker. Kindermusik is a free form way of teaching children music by positive parent interaction and helping form a well rounded child. The class starts out with a happy hello song where you bounce your young child in your lap while singing “Hello” to the other children. The class then continues to teach predictable routine practices and interactive song and dance opportunities. The children get to experience different musical instruments and play with bright colorful streamers. The classes are completely child centered, however I must admit, the parent has a really good time as well. «Read the rest of this article»

 

Classical guitar workshop offered

 

APSU Professor of Music and world-renowned classical guitarist Dr. Stanley Yates will conduct a workshop on classical guitar. The workshop will take place at 7p.m., Thursday, Sept. 25 at Mary’s Music Store at 305 N. Riverside Drive. The event is open to the public; however, there is a $20 fee to attend. APSU students can receive a $5 discount if they present a student I.D.

The workshop includes demonstrations in classical guitar techniques, ways to incorporate classical guitar into other styles of music, a question-and-answer segment and light refreshments. «Read the rest of this article»
