Clarksville Parks and Recreation to reopen many Facilities, June 1st

 

City of Clarksville, Montgomery County enter Next Phase of Plans to bring back Fun and Games

Clarksville Parks and Recreation DepartmentClarksville, TN – Many, but not all, Clarksville Parks and Recreation and Montgomery County Parks facilities and amenities will reopen Monday, June 1st, 2020 as the community enters the next phase of the COVID-19 Coronavirus reopening process.

Rental facilities, such as park pavilions, Wilma Rudolph Event Center, and Freedom Point will begin taking reservations. Each facility will have its own guidelines for maximum capacity, and social distancing will be required during events that use these facilities.

Clarksville Parks and Recreation prepares safe, responsible Summer Events, Programs

 

Clarksville Parks and Recreation DepartmentClarksville, TN – As the weather warms up, so does the desire to participate in traditional Clarksville Parks and Recreation events, programs and activities at parks, pools and athletic facilities.

However, the COVID-19 Coronavirus pandemic and social distancing guidelines will continue to have a major impact on operations for parks and recreation departments here and across the country.

“Although this will not be a normal summer in regard to Clarksville Parks and Recreation programs and services, we are eager to operate safely and responsibly where possible,” said Jennifer Letourneau, Director of Clarksville Parks and Recreation.

Clarksville Parks and Recreation reports Parks, Golf Courses close due to High Water, Cold Weather

 

Clarksville Parks and Recreation DepartmentClarksville, TN – The Clarksville Parks and Recreation Department announces that because of heavy rain and rising waters on the Cumberland River and its tributaries, these City of Clarksville parks will be closed until further notice:

McGregor Park boat ramp and north extension of the RiverWalk, Clarksville Greenway from Pollard Road trailhead to the water treatment plant and Trice Landing.

Additionally, Swan Lake Golf Course will be closed through noon on Sunday because of freezing temperatures.

City of Clarksville battered by Heavy Rain and High Winds

 

City of Clarksville - Clarksville, TNClarksville, TN – Trees and power lines were knocked down by high winds late Thursday and early Friday across the city, while heavy rains forced water over roadways in some low-lying areas.

Emergency management officials said Clarksville saw from 6 to 7.5 inches of rain overnight, and winds with gusts up to 44 mph. The rain was pushing the Red River and the Cumberland River to flood stage. Localized flash flooding was occurring along the creeks and streams that flow into the rivers.

Clarksville Hosts Second Annual Sports Festival

 

Clarksville Sports FestivalClarksville, TN – The Clarksville Department of Parks and Recreation held its second-annual Clarksville Sports Festival on Saturday, March 17th, at the Foy Fitness Center on the campus of Austin Peay State University.  The day-long festival was a celebration of sports and athletics in Clarksville and Montgomery County and featured not only clinics, sports demonstrations and interactive areas, but also seminars and even an exposition area where over 20 of Clarksville and Montgomery County’s athletic and outdoor clubs, businesses and organizations provided information to the community.
