Clarksville Parks and Recreation seeks participants for Riverfest Regatta

 

RiverFest 2019Clarksville, TN – Clarksville Parks and Recreation are looking for sailors of all kinds are invited to participate in the 13th annual Riverfest Regatta, presented by US Bank, Saturday, September 7th, 2019 at McGregor Park as part of the Riverfest Festival.

The event will begin at 1:00pm and check-in will take place at 11:30am at the McGregor Park Boat Ramp. All boats must be checked in no later than 12:30pm.

City of Clarksville Departments deal with Rising Water

City of Clarksville - Clarksville, TNClarksville, TN – Clarksville Parks and Recreation closed several park areas Tuesday because of rising water, and the Clarksville Street Department and Clarksville Police continued to monitor roads and travel conditions as more rain was forecast.

Water issues closed sections of Liberty Park, including the Bark Park and Clarksville Marina, officials said. Boat ramps at McGregor Park and Billy Dunlop Park were also closed by high water, along with the canoe and kayak launch at Robert Clark Park.

Clarksville Parks and Recreation DepartmentClarksville, TN – Because of heavy rain and rising waters on the Cumberland River and its tributaries, some City of Clarksville parks and facilities will be closed until further notice. Facilities at Liberty Park and McGregor Park have been hit hardest.

2017 Riverfest Best Ever, Chris Janson extremely entertaining

 

2017 RiverFestClarksville, TN – Riverfest 2017 is shaping up to to be one of the most successful of recent years, (based on attendance) according to Clarksville Parks and Recreation’s Robert Rayburn.

“We hear from a lot of people that say we are limited by McGregor Park,” Rayburn said. “I think the success of this weekend shows that we can do more. We want this event to keep growing and improving.”

USS LST-325 begins Tours in Clarksville

 

USS LST 325

Clarksville, TN – LST-325 opened for tours in Clarksville on Thursday, September 7th, 2017 at the McGregor Park Boat Ramp. The ship will be available for tours September 7th-15th.

The LST (Landing Ship, Tank) is a floating monument to the past. The ship was used in various missions in World War II including the invasion of Sicily and the Normandy invasion. Visitors are able to climb aboard and explore the ship as the crew provides a glimpse into her past.

Military enthusiasts, history buffs, and school groups will learn how it was instrumental in battles dating back to World War II.

Clarksville Parks and Recreation taking registrations for Riverfest Regatta

 

Clarksville's Riverfest CelebrationClarksville, TN – Clarksville Parks and Recreation is accepting registration for the Eleventh Annual Riverfest Regatta. Participants can enter as an individual or as a team for a chance to win award. The Riverfest Regatta will take place Saturday, September 9th, 2017 at the McGregor Park boat ramp. New this year, the event will take place at 1:00pm instead of early in the morning like in past races.

This boat race is not like any ordinary boat race. Participants will compete in their boats made of cardboard, plastic bottles, or a few other approved materials. There will be several divisions all racing down the 100-yard long course on the Cumberland River.

Canoe and Kayak race now part of Riverfest

Clarksville's Riverfest CelebrationClarksville, TN – Clarksville Parks and Recreation’s canoe and kayak race Rally on the Cumberland is back for a fifth year and is now part of Clarksville’s Riverfest.

Rally on the Cumberland will be at 8:00am on Saturday, September 9th, 2017 on the Cumberland River, beginning at the Montgomery County Conservation Club and ending at the McGregor Park boat ramp, approximately 6 miles in length.
