APSU Softball - Austin Peay State UniversityClarksville, TN – Sophomore catcher Carly Mattson, of the Austin Peay State University softball team, has been named the Copies in a Flash APSU Athlete of the Week.

The McHenry, IL native was white-hot at the plate this past weekend collecting hits in all four games at the Phyllis Rafter Memorial Tournament, in Kennesaw, GA, finishing with a .615 batting average, a 1.462 slugging percentage and a .615 on-base percentage.

Instant Peay Play: Experienced APSU Lady Govs Softball team opens regular season this week

 

Instant Peay Play - APSU SportsClarksville, TN – With a roster that boasts five seniors and six juniors, Austin Peay State University’s softball team opens its 31st regular season on February 12th at the Gardner-Webb Tournament looking to start a run that will end a string of eight straight campaigns without making the postseason.

The Lady Govs finished 2015 with an overall record of 9-37 — 5-22 in Ohio Valley Conference play — but its senior and junior laden roster returns seven of nine position starters and all five pitchers from 2015.

Fort Campbell identifies Two 101st Airborne Division pilots killed in helicopter crash

 

Fort Campbell KY - 101st Airborne DivisionFort Campbell, KY – Two 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault) pilots who were killed December 2nd as a result of a helicopter crash near Fort Campbell have been identified.

Chief Warrant Officer 2 Alex Caraballoleon, 35, a native of Patillas, Puerto Rico, enlisted in the Army in 2003 as an AH-64D Apache attack helicopter mechanic. During his six years as an enlisted Soldier, Caraballoleon served in numerous assignments, achieving the rank of sergeant, before being selected to attend the Warrant Officer Candidate School in 2009.

Following commissioning as a warrant officer and completion of the Rotary Wing Aviators Course, he served as an Apache attack helicopter pilot with Company B, 1st Battalion, and 2nd Squadron, 17th Cavalry Regiment, 101st Combat Aviation Brigade, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault), Fort Campbell.
