The music of John Denver soars at the Roxy Regional Theatre

 

Clarksville, TN – The Roxy Regional Theatre kicked off their run of the musical Almost Heaven. The show pays tribute to the life and music of John Denver. The production uses twenty five iconic John Denver songs that are a cross section of our nation capturing the turbulent times in which he wrote them. The wildly popular songs are juxtaposed with interviews, fan letters, and passages from his autobiography to weave the spell binding story of his life.

Directed by Tom Thayer, the show features Keith Panzarella, Erica Haines Cantrell, Bryan Benware, Kendall Anne Thompson and Ryan Bowie, with David Lovell on guitar, Tom Thayer on piano and Thad Wallus on bass.

The Roxy Regional Theatre brings the spirit of William Shakespeare back to life with their production of Hamlet

 

Roxy Regional TheatreThe Roxy Regional Theatre kicked off their annual production of William Shakespeare’s works with an adaption of the classic Hamlet. The play is a story where a ghost and a prince meet and in the end everyone ends up mincemeat.

Written in the early 1600’s the play is considered today to be the greatest play written in the English language. Containing many of the bards most memorable lines, Hamlet can sometimes be daunting to audiences. This is not the case with the Roxy production; thanks to some very strong acting and great delivery by the primary cast members. The Roxy’s version of Hamlet is very easy to follow and quite enjoyable.

Take a trip through the 1960’s with Shout! at the Roxy Regional Theatre

 

SHOUT! at the Roxy Regional TheatreThe Roxy Regional Theatre is currently putting on a production of Shout! The Mod Musical. Featuring five beautiful women who are identified by the colors that represent their individual personalities; Orange, Red, Green, Blue, and Yellow. The musical follows their lives and loves during the 1960’s which was wonderfully illustrated by using the music, dance, fashion, and via pop culture references from those tumultuous times. Only four performances remain (Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday) so you need to make your plans to see this wonderful show as soon as possible!

Roxy Gala closes out Frolic On Franklin Street

 

Roxy Regional TheatreThe Roxy Regional Theatre held their Annual Roxy Gala as a part of the Downtown Clarksville Association’s Frolic on Franklin Street. The event features a silent auction, an elegant candle lit dinner under tents in the middle of Franklin Street, a art auction, and finally the attendees were treated to a performance of the latest Roxy Regional Theatre production, Shout: The “Mod” Musical.

Two of the most highly sought after items this year were a framed photo of Jack Sparrow in Pirates of the Caribbean, signed by actor Johnny Depp, and A Fender Squier Bullet Strat Guitar signed by Paul McCartney; a member of the legendary British rock band the Beatles.

Forever Plaid brings doo wop to the Roxy Regional Theatre

 

Austin Peay State University along with John McDonald and Tom Thayer of the Roxy Regional Theatre offered attendees of the APSU Center of Excellence for the Creative Arts’ Spring Salon Series a sneak preview of the upcoming Musical Forever Plaid.

John McDonald spoke in between musical numbers about the history of the Roxy Regional Theatre, and their plans for the future.  They are currently seeking 1000 donors to contribute $1000 each to provide the funding which will allow them to begin the process of building the new Roxy Regional Center for the Arts.
