APSU faculty, staff lauded for their efforts

Austin Peay State UniversitySeveral faculty and staff members at Austin Peay State University demonstrated noteworthy accomplishments recently.

Three APSU leaders were tapped for the 2010-11 Leadership Clarksville program: Dr. Dixie Dennis, associate provost of Grants and Sponsored Programs and dean of the College of Graduate Studies; Lee Hall, first lady of APSU; and Bill Persinger, executive director of Public Relations and Marketing.

Dr. Norbert Puszkar, associate professor of German, has published an article on Seume’s “Der Wilde” in Lessing Yearbook/Jahrbuch. Johann Gottfried Seume (1763-1810) is one of the few German authors of his time who travelled to America. He was gangpressed into British service by the Hessian duke and stayed in Nova Scotia for a year. The poem “Der Wilde,” which Seume wrote after his return to Germany, uses the literary figure of the noble savage and places it in a narrative of hospitality denied.

Kimberly Scott, director of annual giving, and Jessica Puffenbarger, prospect research manager, both in the Office of University Advancement, received master’s degrees in management August 13th from APSU.
