“We haven’t played in a few weeks,” head coach Malik Tabet said.” It’s going to be interesting to see how they’re going to show up. We’ve had good practices and the girls seem ready to play.”

Junior Vanja Tomic and sophomore Carolin Weikard were ranked Nos. 1 and 2 in the Ohio Valley Conference’s preseason individual rankings. Despite losing four seniors from last season’s OVC title team, the Lady Govs were picked, in the preseason poll, to repeat as champions.

Saturday, the Lady Govs will be looking to break a streak of two-straight Musketeer wins against Ohio Valley Conference teams. Xavier played a pair of matches in Richmond, KY, winning 5-2 against Morehead State and 4-3 against Eastern Kentucky. After finishing fifth in the Atlantic 10 race a year ago, Xavier was picked to finish fourth in this season’s A-10 preseason poll.
