Clarksville, TN – Stephen Adly Guirgis’ new high-octane, verbal cage match about love, fidelity and misplaced haberdashery, “The Motherf**ker with the Hat”, pushes the envelope at the Roxy Regional Theatre’s theotherspace for four performances only, beginning Wednesday, March 20th, at 7:00pm.
Finding his theatrical voice as a high school student of Roxy Artistic Director John McDonald, Mr. Guirgis will be coming to Clarksville on Saturday, March 23rd, for the theatre’s “Wine & Theatre Night.” Following the show, he will participate in a question and answer session with the audience.

“The Motherf**ker with the Hat”, Anthony Michael Irizarry stars as Jackie, a petty drug dealer just out of prison and trying to stay clean while still living with and loving his volatile soulmate Veronica (Tamiko Robinson), who is far from sober. Shawn Whitsell as Ralph D is Jackie’s too-smooth, slightly slippery sponsor who’s married to the bitter and disaffected Victoria (Mary McCallum) … who, by the way, has the hots for Jackie. And then there’s Jackie’s cousin Julio (J. Robert Lindsey) — a stand-up, “stand by me” kind of guy.
Nominated for Best Play of the 2011 Broadway Season, “The Motherf**ker with the Hat” has garnered critical acclaim from such notable sources as the Wall Street Journal (“…tight, smart and splendidly well-made, a tough-minded, unromantically romantic comedy that keeps you laughing, then sends you home thinking…”); USA Today (“…a slice of hard life that’s as provocative as it is absorbing…”); and the New Yorker (“Guirgis, a brilliant comedic talent…”).

Saturday, March 23rd, is the Roxy’s “Wine & Theatre Night,” during which patrons can enjoy the best of Beachaven Winery and light comestibles along with the 8:00pm performance. Tickets are $40.00. (Show-only tickets are also available for this performance.)
This production contains strong language and subject matter not appropriate for all audiences.
“The Motherf**ker with the Hat” is presented in theotherspace (the 50-seat black-box theatre located upstairs at the Roxy) at 7:00pm on Wednesday and Thursday, March 20th and 21st, and at 8:00pm on Friday and Saturday, March 22nd and 23rd. (Seating is very limited, so early reservations are strongly recommended. The performance on Thursday, March 21st, is sold out.)
Tickets are $15.00 and may be purchased online at www.roxyregionaltheatre.org, by phone at 931.645.7699, or at the theatre during regular box office hours (9:00am to 2:00pm, Monday through Friday).
