It was the first such honor for Cathey, APSU’s first-year player from Hixon. And she earned it with a trio of solid rounds as APSU played three weekend dual matches.
She capped the week with a career low round of 71 (-1), Monday, against Belmont, finishing first place in the 12-player event. That round was five shots better than any over competitor and three strokes better than her previous best. It included four-straight birdies at the turn, resulting in a 32 on the back nine.
She began the weekend with a 77 (fifth overall) against Murray State and followed with an 82 (third overall) in rainy and windy conditions on Sunday against Tennessee State.
