Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT) update on Rossview Road Construction project in Clarksville

Tennessee Department of TransportationNashville, TN – Since December 2014, great progress has been made, including efforts to relocate existing water, sewer, gas, electric and communication lines, which must be moved to make way for new construction.

This work is expected to continue for the next few months. Once the lines are relocated, widening of the roadway will begin.

TDOT construction of the bridge bents, or support structures, is currently underway at Rossview road.

In addition to the utility work, the area near the interchange has been cleared and erosion and sediment controls for Phase I construction are now in place.

Temporary traffic signals have been installed at the intersections of the I-24 eastbound and westbound off-ramps and SR 237 (Rossview Road). The signals will remain operational for much of the project.

Construction of the bridge bents, or support structures, is currently underway and will continue for the next several weeks, while bridge beams are being fabricated at a separate facility.

In the next month, I-24 will be closed for weekend work. The closure is necessary for access, removal and containment of asbestos from under the bridges. Public notice will be provided prior to the closure, which will be phased to cover eastbound and westbound lanes of travel on two separate weekends.

TDOT is also working to finalize plans for a new Park & Ride facility. A preferred site has been identified near Exit 11 (SR 76 / MLK Jr Pkwy). More details will be available in the coming months.

As previously noted, the current Park & Ride facility within the project limits will remain in use during construction or until a new site is available.

Key Project Events

  • Temporary traffic signals at the intersections of off-ramps and Rossview Road
  • Utility relocation to continue through May
  • Asbestos removal, including I-24 lane closures, expected in April

Announcements

  • Rolling roadblocks are scheduled for Saturday, March 14th, 7:00am to noon, in order to move equipment and material across I-24. This will impact the westbound lanes, between mile marker 8 and mile marker 11.
