Firm Administrator Mark McMickle led the green effort for Batson and Nolan. McMickle went over some of the initiatives they’ve taken through the years. “When we rebuilt after the 1999 tornado, we built with energy efficiency as a priority. We have always felt the need not to be wasteful in our business methods and have operated under an informal recycling program for years.”

“Since being in the program, we’ve implemented a formal recycling policy and expanded on the items that we recycle which has helped us reduce our trash output. We have also focused on reducing the amount of paper we use through electronic storage and dissemination of filesm” stated McMickle.

“The firm worked with CDE to ensure proper set points on all of our thermostat controls and we encourage employees to turn off lights and shut down computers at the end of the day. We recently purchased a new HVAC system and spent a bit extra for the higher efficiency model knowing that our return on investment would quickly pay off,” said McMickle. “Attorneys and staff actively contributed ideas and suggestions for improvement making the Green Certification process a rewarding experience across the firm.”

Montgomery County Mayor Jim Durrett and Clarksville Mayor Kim McMillan thanked the staff for taking the initiative to participate in the CMC Green Certification process.
