Austin Peay State University Women’s Golf sits in 2nd at F&M Bank APSU Intercollegiate after Day One

Dickson, TN – Austin Peay State University women’s golf finds itself in prime position after the opening 18 holes of the 2016 F&M Bank APSU Intercollegiate, Monday, from Greystone Golf Club.

With a first-round 308, the Governors sit tied for second with Belmont, two shots behind Southern Illinois. Dayton (315) and North Carolina A&T (320) round out the top five after the first day of competition.

The Governors team score was buffered by matching 76’s from senior Kelsey Schutt—who posted three birdies, including one on No. 18 to close the round—and sophomore Taylor Goodley, who each sit tied for sixth heading into the final round.

Sophomore Ashton Goodley sits one shot back in eighth after an opening-round 77; she posted a one-under 35 on the front nine.

Junior AnnaMichelle Moore (79, t-13) and senior Morgan Kauffman (85, t-26) rounded out the lineup for Austin Peay.

The best first-round score was posted by freshman Meghann Stamps, who competed as an individual. The Hendersonville Tennessee native equaled her career-best with a 75, shooting even-par over her final 10 holes, Monday; she sits alone in fifth, four shots back of Southern Illinois’ Kristie Yang, the overall leader.

Senior Amber Bosworth‘s opening-round 79 finds her in 13th heading into the final round.

After a fixed-start opening round off No. 1 Monday, Tuesday’s final-round action will feature an 8:00am shotgun start from Greystone.
