Clarksville Parks and Recreation Department earns three statewide awards

Mayor applauds Workplace Wellness Award

Clarksville Parks and Recreation DepartmentClarksville, TN – Clarksville’s Parks and Recreation Department earned three statewide awards at the Tennessee Recreation and Parks Association’s 65th Annual Conference in Memphis, TN.

The Workplace Wellness Award was presented November 16th, 2016 to Jennifer Byard and the Department’s Health Initiative committee for their focus on physical activity and wellness to heighten employee productivity, motivation, and general well-being.

The Parks and Recreation staff has aimed to set a good example regarding the promotion of healthy living to City residents.

Other awards were the Four Star Program Award (Aquatics) for the highly successful Adaptive Swim Day program held in May, and the Four Star Marketing (Print) Award for design of the 2016 Fall/Winter Program Guide.  The program guide featured a newly designed two-page facility and park locator map that was well-received by the public.  

“All of Clarksville can be proud of the fine work and dedication on display every day in our Parks and Recreation Department, and these awards are proof that Parks Director Jennifer Byard and her team are among the state’s best,” Clarksville Mayor Kim McMillan said. “I’m especially pleased that the department’s health initiative earned the Wellness Award, which reflects the success of our workplace health programs.”
