Clarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University men’s tennis team returns home after more than a month to take on Detroit Mercy, 12:00pm, Thursday, March 8th.
The Govs (1-8) have not played at home since January 27th against Chattanooga.
The Govs’ lone win came back on February 9th against Southern Indiana, which featured a great comeback at No. 1 doubles from the team’s two most experienced players in Aleh Drobysh and Almantas Ozelis.
The Govs have been competitive in many matches, but three-set singles matches have continued to be the Achilles heel for them.
The Titans (6-5) have had a roller-coaster ride to start its season. After dropping their opening two matches, the Titans went on a five-match win streak before embarking on a three-game skid. The Titans defeated fellow Ohio Conference-member Tennessee State in their most recent outing, however, easily disposing of the Tigers 7-0. Detroit also has had limited success on the road, compiling a 1-4 record away from home, as compared to a 4-0 record at home.
