Tennessee Titans
Nashville, TN – The Tennessee Titans, who put up 35 points in consecutive weeks for the first time since the 2004 season, could not overcome their three turnovers, including two returned for scores, and fell to the San Diego Chargers, 43-35, at Qualcomm Stadium.
San Diego jumped out to an early 16-0 lead, as Chargers QB Philip Rivers directed two touchdown drives, finding Chargers TE Antonio Gates for a 13-yard score and Chargers WR Tyrell Williams for a six-yard strike. Chargers K Josh Lambo also added a 32-yard field goal, while the San Diego defense forced consecutive Titans three-and-outs.

The Titans were undeterred, however, as QB Marcus Mariota directed an eight play, 75-yard drive and connected with WR Rishard Matthews for a 16-yard score.
Although Lambo drilled a 23-yard field goal for the Chargers, the Titans responded with another touchdown drive in the final 1:23 of the first half, with Mariota finding Matthews again for a seven-yard strike in the corner of the end zone.
Entering the second half with the momentum, Mariota and the offense reached the red zone on the opening drive. On second-and-10 at the 14-yard line, Mariota scrambled and dove for the pylon to give Tennessee its first lead of the day, 21-19.
San Diego regained the lead on a one-yard touchdown run by Chargers RB Melvin Gordon, who totaled 196 yards on the ground on the day. As the Titans were looking for an answer, Chargers S Dwight Lowery recovered a Mariota fumble, forced by Chargers LB Melvin Ingram, and returned the ball 36 yards for a score.
Although TE Delanie Walker hauled in an eight-yard touchdown pass from Mariota with 9:55 remaining in the game, Lambo’s third field goal from 36 yards out and another Tennessee turnover for points—a 33-yard interception return by Chargers CB Brandon Flowers with five minutes on the clock—sealed the win for San Diego.
