APSU Soccer releases Spring Schedule

APSU Soccer - Austin Peay State UniversityClarksville, TN – The Austin Peay State University (APSU) women’s soccer head coach Naomi Kolarova has announced the team’s spring schedule, Wednesday.

The Governors will play seven total matches on five dates, as well as an alumni game, March 30th.

APSU Women's VolleyballAtlanta, GA – Austin Peay State University beach volleyball team wrapped up their five-day road trip at the Georgia State Day of Duals, Tuesday.

The Govs, who opened the season strong with two wins against New Orleans University and Jacksonville State at the New Orleans Invitational, stumbled against two strong opponents on the final day of their southern swing.

The squad will open its season beginning at 9:30am this Friday, September 22nd, 2017 at the Dale Short Shootout in Murfreesboro, Tennessee.

APSU Men's Tennis - Austin Peay State UniversityMurfreesboro, TN – The Austin Peay State men’s tennis opened its fall season with a pair of wins over Chattanooga and Middle Tennessee while falling to Alabama-Birmingham at the 2016 Dale Short Shootout presented by Jason’s Deli.

APSU opened the weekend with a 7-0 loss to UAB, but rebounded to close out the weekend’s matches with wins over UTC and host MTSU.

Instant Peay Play: APSU Govs show promise in Football Scrimmage and Soccer Exhibition

 

Instant Peay Play - APSU SportsClarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University had two of its fall sports show some early potential in their first game-type efforts, with football having its first full scrimmage on August 13th at Fortera Stadium, while the soccer team played to a 1-1 tie versus Georgia State on August 14th in its lone exhibition match of the preseason.

For the football Govs, their offense showed some explosiveness that they were lacking last season, with scoring plays of 30 yards, 17 yards and 20 yards.

Instant Peay Play: August heralds APSU Govs return to the field and the class room

 

Instant Peay Play - APSU SportsClarksville, TN – The first day of fall may not be officially until September 23rd, but the calendar’s change to August means Austin Peay’s return to not only the class room but the field of athletic competition is right around the corner.

Classes on the main Austin Peay campus are set to begin in just three weeks, on August 22nd, but even before the first lecture or lab the Governors Athletic Department will see plenty of action with the return of fall sports – as well as off-season practices for several other sports.

Instant Peay Play: APSU Baseball’s return to post season caps-off Governors spring semester

 

Instant Peay Play - APSU SportsClarksville, TN – With Austin Peay State University’s baseball team elimination from the Ohio Valley Conference Championship Tournament this past Saturday the 2015-16 spring sports semester and overall athletic school year came to an end for the Governors.

Although their third-place finish isn’t what the Govs wanted as they went into the tournament, their return to the post season, after falling just short of making the postseason the past two years, is a great starting point for the program and first-year head coach Travis Janssen.

Instant Peay Play: Dog Days of Summer signify Fall Sports to report soon for Austin Peay State University

 

Legends Bank, Clarksville TNClarksville, TN – With temperatures in the mid to high 90’s recently, as well as a heat index well above 100, is doesn’t feel like Austin Peay State University’s fall sports are nearing their respective reporting dates to kick off the 2015-16 school year; but they are quickly approaching.

The Lady Govs soccer team will be among the first to report, with the squad having its first of two home exhibition matches coming versus Indiana State, in just 21 days away on August 11h, with its regular-season opener coming 10 days after that on August 21st against Alabama-Birmingham.
