APSU alumna Joanna Grisham to offer creative writing classes for students at Community School of the Arts

 

Austin Peay State University - APSUClarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University (APSU) alumna Joanna Grisham grew up in a small town close to Nashville. Growing up, she spent a lot of her time playing make-believe and interacting with her imaginary friends. It’s no surprise that Grisham decided to write for a living, creating an escape from reality.

Students ages 15 through adult have an opportunity to learn from Grisham and take a class in creative writing at Austin Peay State University’s Community School of the Arts.

Austin Peay State University’s Community School of the Arts offers new $5.00/hour class rate, adds Expert Dance Instructor

 

Austin Peay State University Community School for the ArtsClarksville, TN – The Community School of the Arts (CSA) at Austin Peay State University is excited to announce a new financial model, using sponsorships from local community members and organizations to dramatically reduce the cost of CSA classes to just $5.00 per hour, making them more affordable to the community.

For example, the eight-week beginning guitar class that was previously $150.00 is now just $40.00. A 12-week ballet course that was $300.00 is now only $120.00.

Community School of the Arts at Austin Peay State University offers first weekend workshop, opens spring registration

 

Austin Peay State University Community School for the ArtsClarksville, TN – The Community School of the Arts (CSA) at Austin Peay State University last month offered its first-ever one-day weekend workshop. And because of the workshop’s success, the school hopes to offer more soon.

CSA officials also announced open registration for classes this spring. The deadline to register is Friday, January 29th, 2021. Spring classes begin during the first week in February.

Austin Peay State University’s Community School of the Arts announces Dawn Dickins as new coordinator, Spring 2020 classes

 

Austin Peay State University - APSUClarksville, TN – The Community School of the Arts (CSA) at Austin Peay State University (APSU) has announced the hiring of a new coordinator – Dawn Martin Dickins.

Dickins, a visual artist with a concentration in drawing, has worked for the Center of Excellence for the Creative Arts (CECA, or “seek-ah”) at Austin Peay State University for two years as the programs manager.

Community School of the Arts at APSU adds classes for children with disabilities

 

Austin Peay State University Community School for the ArtsClarksville, TN – The Community School of the Arts at Austin Peay State University (APSU) spans all age groups and skill levels, and the offerings continue to grow.

This semester’s offerings start September 9th, 2019 and the school is adding two dance classes – named Expressions Through Dance – that will embrace a learning environment for children with disabilities.

Clarksville-Montgomery County Arts and Heritage Development Council receives $10,000 grant to offer arts experiences to Military Families

Clarksville Arts and Heritage Development CouncilClarksville, TN – The Clarksville-Montgomery County Arts and Heritage Development Council has received a $10,000 grant from the Tennessee Arts Commission to enfold active military, veterans and their families into Clarksville’s creative community.

The Tennessee Arts Commission in partnership with the Tennessee Department of Veteran Services awarded nine Tennessee Military, Veterans & the Arts grants to organizations throughout the state. Two Montgomery County organizations, AHDC and Gateway Chamber Orchestra, were grant recipients.

As part of the Tennessee Arts Commission Arts and Military grant, Arts for Hearts offered a wood burning class that filled so quickly they have added two additional classes with a waiting list.
