Five Govs to compete for APSU Men’s Tennis at ITA Regionals

Austin Peay State University Governors - APSUClarksville, TN – Five Austin Peay State University men’s tennis players will compete at the ITA Ohio Valley Regionals, hosted by Vanderbilt at the Currey Tennis Center. The tournament opens, 8:30am, Thursday with the first round of doubles play.

The day will conclude with the first and second rounds of singles action. Play continues through Sunday.

Austin Peay Lady Govs Tennis lose to No. 15 Vanderbilt

Austin Peay State University Lady GovsNashville, TN – Austin Peay State University women’s tennis team opened the spring season with a  7-0 loss at No. 15 Vanderbilt, Monday.

Heading into the match, head coach Malik Tabet was adamant that he was not looking for a result in the match, but expecting to evaluate his young team. With only senior Vanja Tomic and sophomore Andra Cornea returning, the Lady Govs fielded a lineup with four freshmen against the nationally-ranked Commodores.

Vandy’s June Stewart Invitational set for Lady Govs Tennis

Austin Peay State University GovernorsClarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University women’s tennis team returns to the courts for 2010 June Stewart Invitational, hosted by Vanderbilt, Friday and Saturday, at the Currey Tennis Center.

The eight-team tournament includes the Lady Govs, host Vanderbilt, Ohio Valley Conference team Murray State, regional teams from Belmont, Lipscomb and Middle Tennessee, as well as Purdue and Memphis.

Austin Peay is looking to continue its strong play from the APSU Winter Fling, where the Lady Govs hosted two of the three teams playing in the upcoming June Stewart Invite – Murray State and Lipscomb. At the Winter Fling, Austin Peay won all three singles draws, the top doubles draw and a doubles consolation draw. «Read the rest of this article»
