Paint a Bowl with Arts for Hearts Clarksville at Downtown Commons

Clarksville, TN – October is designated as “Tackling Hunger Month”. Arts for Hearts Arts Clarksville will host an Empty Bowls painting event to bring awareness to hunger in our community. Come paint a bowl and lend your creative hands and hearts on October 3rd, 2019 from 5:00pm-7:00pm at the Downtown Commons, 215 Legion Street, Clarksville.
A limited number of handmade bowls will be available to paint and decorate.

Clarksville-Montgomery County Arts and Heritage Development Council to honor three Clarksvillians November 13th
Clarksville-Montgomery County Arts and Heritage Development Council
Clarksville, TN – Three Clarksvillians will be honored this Tuesday, November 13th, 2018 by the Clarksville-Montgomery County Arts and Heritage Development Council for their achievements in art and in preserving our heritage.
Ceramicists Ken and Melody Shipley will receive the Lifetime Achievement in Art award, and Dr. Minoa Uffelman, Austin Peay State University (APSU) history professor, will receive the Lifetime Achievement in Heritage award.
The awards ceremony will begin at 5:00pm at Emerald Hill on the Austin Peay campus.

APSU counseling grad student Melody Shipley earns National Award for 9/11 art therapy project

Clarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University (APSU) grad student Melody Shipley, a ceramics artist, planned to focus on her pottery full-time, but then in 2015, she went horseback riding.
It was something she did often on her family farm, but that afternoon Shipley ended up on ground, twisting her back and dislocated a rib.

Clarksville-Montgomery County Arts and Heritage Development Council to hold exhibit, reception for 2Rivers Plein Air Paint-Out
Clarksville-Montgomery County Arts and Heritage Development Council (AHDC)
Clarksville, TN – On Friday and Saturday, October 19th and 20th, 2018 artists from around Middle Tennessee and southern Kentucky will arrive in Clarksville to paint the city in the Clarksville-Montgomery County Arts and Heritage Development Council’s 2Rivers Plein Air Paint-Out.
They will set up easels all around town to capture Clarksville on canvas and will welcome anyone in their vicinity to ask about their work or share stories about the spaces they are painting.

APSU to receive Veteran Reconnect Grant during October 2nd ceremony
Clarksville, TN – The Veteran Reconnect Grant, established by funding from the Tennessee General Assembly, provides funds for the development of new programs designed to promote the success of student veterans.
Austin Peay State University is one of 13 institutions in Tennessee to have the distinction of receiving this grant, and will receive $79,954 this fall.

Austin Peay State University to honor 9/11 anniversary with community art exhibit
Clarksville, TN – This September, Austin Peay State University will commemorate the anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks with a special community art project, Honoring 9/11 through Art and Art Therapy.
The program, conceived by Ken Shipley, APSU professor of art, and Melody Shipley, ceramic artist, is designed to support and engage individuals reflecting on the sacrifices of those who died on September 11th, 2001, and to honor those who rose in service and continue to serve as a result of that tragedy.
