Nashville Sounds lose to Albuquerque Isotopes 5-3

 

Nashville SoundsAlbuquerque, NM – The Nashville Sounds began their final road trip of the year on a down note, falling 5-3 to Albuquerque on Wednesday evening at Isotopes Park in the opener of a five-game series.

The defeat was the fifth in the past six games for Nashville (50-82).

The Sounds got off to a quick start, plating a run in the top of the first inning against Matt Magill. Kentrail Davis (3-for-4) led off with a triple to center that snapped an 18 at-bat hitless stretch for the outfielder and scored when Eugenio Velez followed with a sacrifice fly.

Nashville Sounds get rolled 20-2 by Round Rock Express

 

Sounds Allow Franchise-Most 20 Runs In Loss

Nashville SoundsNashville, TN – The Nashville Sounds surrendered the most runs in the franchise’s 36-year history Monday night at Greer Stadium, losing 20-2 to the visiting Round Rock Express.

The Sounds previous high of 19 runs allowed, which happened on four occasions, was surpassed in the eighth inning when Aaron Cunningham hit his second home run of the night, a two-run jack off the clock in the guitar scoreboard.

Nashville Sounds lose Friday night to Round Rock Express 7-4

 

Nashville SoundsNashville, TN –  The Nashville Sounds dropped the opener of a five-game series against the Round Rock Express on Friday evening , falling 7-4 in front of 8,714 fans at Greer Stadium.

Nashville (50-77) out-hit the Express, 10-8, in the contest and Sounds pitchers combined to strike out a season-high 15 batters in the losing effort.

Nashville Sounds lose 12-7 to Reno Aces

 

Nashville SoundsReno, NV – The Nashville Sounds were on the short end of a 12-7 final against the Reno Aces on Monday evening at Aces Ballpark in the opener of a four-game series.

The defeat was the third in the last four games for Nashville (48-75) following a stretch of nine wins in the club’s previous ten contests.

The 19 total runs scored on the night were the most in any game involving the Sounds this year. The teams did almost all of the scoring in the first half of the game, combining for 16 runs on 17 hits through the first five innings of action.

Nashville Sounds Surge in Ninth to 6-1 win over Colorado Sky Sox

Nashville SoundsColorado Springs, CO – The Nashville Sounds broke away with a five-spot in the ninth inning to defeat the Colorado Sky Sox by a 6-1 margin Thursday night in the series opener at Security Service Field. The victory is Nashville’s ninth in their last 10 games.

The Sounds loaded the bases in the ninth before recording a hit in the inning, as Sean Halton walked, Hunter Morris reached on an error, and Blake Lalli on a sacrifice bunt fielder’s choice. Stephen Parker followed with a dribbler to first base which was misfielded by Ben Paulsen to allow the go-ahead run.

Nashville Sounds lose to Redbirds 7-2 in Memphis

 

Nashville SoundsMemphis, TN – The Nashville Sounds were unable to keep pace with the Memphis Redbirds Saturday night at AutoZone Park, held to five hits in the 7-2 loss by Nick Additon (6-4) and company.

Additon retired the first 14 Nashville batters in order before outfielder Hainley Statia touched the lefty for a home run to left field. The homer, Statia’s second in as many games after not having one since July 30th, 2011, pulled the Sounds to within two, trailing 3-1 in the fifth.

Nashville Sounds lose 2-1 to New Orleans Zephyrs

 

Nashville SoundsNashville, TN – The Nashville Sounds suffered their league-leading 17th one-run defeat on Sunday afternoon at Zephyr Field, falling 2-1 to New Orleans.

Nashville managed only three hits on the afternoon and New Orleans hurlers combined to retire the final 15 Sounds batters in order to close out the contest.

Right-hander Hiram Burgos made a rehab start for the Sounds but it was an abbreviated one-inning outing due the onset of a lengthy rain delay. He allowed one hit and walked a batter during a scoreless 22-pitch frame.

Nashville SoundsNashville, TN – Right-hander Johnny Hellweg worked six scoreless frames and combined with a pair of relievers on a shutout in the Nashville Sounds’ 1-0 victory over the New Orleans Zephyrs on Saturday evening at Zephyr Field in the opener of a four-game series.

With its fourth shutout win of the year, Nashville (26-50) snapped a four-game skid despite being out-hit, 8-4, on the evening.

Nashville Sounds get 5-3 win over New Orleans Zephyrs

 

Nashville SoundsNashville, TN – The Nashville Sounds rode the arm of starting pitcher Zach Kroenke (4-8) Monday night at Greer Stadium to hold off the New Orleans Zephyrs in the series finale, avoiding the four-game series sweep with the 5-3 victory.

Kroenke, in his first start since June 2nd, held the Zephyrs scoreless through six innings of work to pick up his fourth win and fourth quality start in his last five starts for Nashville. The lefty fired six strikeouts to New Orleans, allowing only three hits and one walk. He tossed 69 pitches, 47 for strikes.

Nashville SoundsNashville, TN – The New Orleans Zephyrs doubled up the Nashville Sounds, 6-3, on Friday evening in front of 6,921 fans at Greer Stadium in the opener of a four-game series.

Nashville out-hit New Orleans, 13-5, in the contest, getting knocks from every starter except Stephen Parker (0-for-3).

Outfielder Sean Halton went 3-for-4 to extend his longest hitting streak of the year to 10 games for Nashville. He is batting .500 (16-for-32) over the 10-game stretch, the Sounds’ fourth double-digit streak of the season.
