After Thanksgiving Hikes at Dunbar Cave State Park, Port Royal State Historic Park

Dunbar Cave State Park has been a State Park since 1973. The cave and its surrounding 110 acres have considerable scenic, natural and historical significance. The entrance offered shelter to prehistoric Native Americans as far back as 10,000 years.

Dunbar Cave State Park’s hike will begin at 9:00am.  Port Royal State Historic Park will start their hike at 10:00am.

Dunbar Cave State Park, Port Royal State Historic Park to hold National Trails Day Hikes, June 1st

 

Tennessee State ParksNashville, TN – On Saturday, June 1st, 2019, Tennessee State Parks will celebrate National Trails Day with free guided hikes at all 56 state parks. Dunbar Cave State Park and Port Royal State Historic Park will be holding hikes led by park rangers.

This will be the third of the state parks’ signature hikes this year, following First Day Hikes in January and Spring Hikes in March. Thus far, 4,787 park visitors have participated in the hikes.

First Day Hike at Port Royal State Historic Park set for January 1st, 2019

 

Tennessee State ParksAdams, TN – Join us at Port Royal State Historic Park on Tuesday, January 1st, 2019 for your first Hike of the New Year! Learn about and experience the Town that wouldn’t give up and it’s role in many of of our State’s important moments – and be active and outside while doing it!

This will be an easy and leisurely hike, around a mile.

The first day of the year hike will take place from 10:00am until 12:00pm.

First Day Hike at Port Royal State Historic Park

 

Tennessee State ParksAdams, TN – Celebrate the New Year on Monday, January 1st, 2018 with a history walk around the old town site at Port Royal State Historic Park.

This will be an easy walk around the park learning about the frontier town of Port Royal and its place in Tennessee history.

The first day of the year hike will take place from 3:30pm until 4:30pm.

National Trails Day Hike to be held at Port Royal State Historic Park, Saturday

 

Tennessee State ParksAdams, TN – Port Royal State Historic Park will National Trails Day with a half mile hike on our River Bottom Trail on Saturday, June 3rd, 2017.

We will be walking on a section of the Trail of Tears National Historic Trail and will talk about the events that led up to this unfortunate part of our history.

This event is free.

Everyone is to meet at the River Bottom trail head (opposite side of the river from the canoe launch and picnic area) at 3:30pm and the hike is expected to last until 4:30pm.
