Instant Peay Play: Month-long road trip faces APSU Men’s Basketball after home opener

 

Instant Peay Play - APSU SportsClarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University’s (APSU) men’s basketball team opens its 2018-19 regular season at home this Tuesday, November 6th, 2018 at the Dunn Center with a 7:00pm contest versus Oakland City, but then packs it bags for a month-long, seven-game road trip.

The extended road swing for the Governors will be the longest such stretch of games for APSU in the regular season since the beginning of the 2010-11 season, when they opened their schedule with nine straight games away from Clarksville – including two Ohio Valley Conference contests.

APSU Football adds Sean Dawkins as running backs coach

APSU FootballClarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University football head coach Will Healy has turned to a familiar face to lead his running back group, adding Sean Dawkins to his coaching staff for the 2017 season.

Dawkins replaces J.D. Sellers, who recently became head coach at Clarksville Academy – Dawkins was with Murray State last season in the same role.

Saturday’s game will be broadcast on CBS with Verne Lundquist and Gary Danielson in the booth and Allie LaForce reporting from the sidelines.

Tennessee (7-3, 3-3 SEC) will be making its fifth appearance on the SEC on CBS Game of the Week this season, its most since 1998 when it made six regular season appearances on the network. Earlier this season, the Vols are the first team in history to be featured on CBS in four straight weeks.

Instant Peay Play - APSU SportsClarksville, TN – From the time Will Healy was announced as the new head coach of the Austin Peay State University football program last December, there has been a new energy around the Governors football program.

That new energy will get to manifest itself for the first time this Saturday, September 3rd, as the Govs open the Healy Era with a 5:00pm contest at Troy University.

“I’m very confident in the direction that we are going,” Healy said. “But obviously you’re going to have those first-game jitters and you want to make sure that you are organized and taken care of everything you need too.

Instant Peay Play: APSU Govs show promise in Football Scrimmage and Soccer Exhibition

 

Instant Peay Play - APSU SportsClarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University had two of its fall sports show some early potential in their first game-type efforts, with football having its first full scrimmage on August 13th at Fortera Stadium, while the soccer team played to a 1-1 tie versus Georgia State on August 14th in its lone exhibition match of the preseason.

For the football Govs, their offense showed some explosiveness that they were lacking last season, with scoring plays of 30 yards, 17 yards and 20 yards.
