Tennessee Men’s Basketball beats Saint Joseph’s, 102-66

 

Tennessee Volunteers - UT VolsKnoxville, TN – Six double-figure scorers for the second straight game and a dominant performance on the glass pushed the eighth-ranked Tennessee Vols basketball team past Saint Joseph’s, 102-66, on Monday at Thompson-Boling Arena.

Tennessee (5-0) scored 100-plus points for the second consecutive game, marking the fourth time the Vols have eclipsed the century mark in back-to-back games in program history. The last time occurred in November of 2009, when Tennessee took down UNC Asheville, 124-49, and East Carolina, 105-66.

Over the course of his Austin Peay State University (APSU) men’s basketball career, you could point to a lot of different games as a Terry Taylor Game—games where he tossed the team on his back, put up absurd numbers in victory, matched a fellow big step-for-step or hit the big shot when the Govs needed him most.

Tennessee Volunteers - UT VolsKnoxville, TN – Tennessee men’s basketball is set to open its 110th season when takes on UNC Asheville at Thompson-Boling Arena on Tuesday night. Tipoff is set for 6:00pm CT on SEC Network +.

Tennessee Vols Basketball beats Eastern New Mexico, 107-59

 

Tennessee Volunteers - UT VolsKnoxville, TN Jordan Bowden and Lamonte Turner combined for 45 points in Tennessee Vols Basketball’s 107-59 exhibition win over Eastern New Mexico at Thompson-Boling Arena Wednesday night.

It marked the most points the Vols have scored in an exhibition game during the Rick Barnes era and the most in any UT exhibition since 2007-08. Tennessee’s 48-point margin of victory also marked the highest in an exhibition game since that 2007-08 campaign.

#11 Tennessee Lady Vols get 76-63 win at Oklahoma State

UT Lady VolsStillwater, OK – Sophomore Evina Westbrook poured in a career-high 29 points to lead No. 11/11 Tennessee to a gritty road win over Oklahoma State at Gallagher-Iba Arena on Sunday, 76-63.
 
Junior Rennia Davis and freshman Zaay Green were also in double figures for Tennessee (6-0) with 15 each, with Green posting a new career high. Cheridene Green was a presence on the boards, pulling down a career-best 13 rebounds.
 
The Cowgirls (6-1) were led in scoring by Braxtin Miller, who finished the day with 29 points. Also in double digits for OSU were Jaden Hobbs, who went 4-of-6 from behind the arc for 12 points, and Vivian Gray, who tallied 14 points.

UT Lady VolsKnoxville, TN – No. 11/11 Tennessee Lady Vols Basketball (5-0) plays its third straight game away from Knoxville, but its first true road contest of the season, when it squares off with NR/RV Oklahoma State (6-0) in the SEC/Big 12 Challenge on Sunday afternoon. Tip time is set for 3:00pm CT (4:00pm ET) at Gallagher-Iba Arena in Stillwater, OK, and the match-up will be televised by FS1.

The Lady Vols have had a full week between games, last playing on November 24th as they beat UAB in overtime, 73-69, to capture the Junkanoo Division title at the 2018 Women’s Junkanoo Jam in Bimini, Bahamas. UT defeated Clemson, 78-66, in its opening round game on November 22nd.
