Austin Peay State University GovernorsMobile, AL – Austin Peay State University men’s tennis team saw its four-match win streak halted by a 4-3 loss at South Alabama.

The Govs won the doubles point, but dropped four of the six singles matches. Ironically, both singles and doubles came down to tiebreakers, however, the Govs were unable to earn the clinching point.

Sophomore Sean Bailey picked the Govs first singles win, at No. 3, when Christian Kuehne retired with an injury. John Storie won at No. 6 in a super tiebreaker, but it was not the one that mattered most. That tiebreaker went to South Alabama’s Alex Bernard at No. 2, when he defeated Henrique Norbiato in the game-winning match.

Freshmen Jasmin Ademovic, Remi Calleja and Joao Pagan each lost straight-set matches at their respective singles positions.

In doubles, Norbiato and Bailey needed a tiebreaker to win their 14th-straight doubles match and ninth-straight of the spring season. Meanwhile Ademovic and Calleja won a decisive 8-1 match at No. 2. Pagan and Storie, however, suffered a 9-8 loss at No. 3.
