Fort Campbell, KY – Just hours after severe weather hit the area, 129 Soldiers with the 1st and 2nd Brigade Combat Team returned to Fort Campbell, KY at around 7:30am Wednesday after a year long deployment to Afghanistan. As the plan landed you could hear cheers of joy from friends and family.
Soldiers quickly moved past everyone enroute to drop their gear in preparation to march inside for their formal Welcome Home.
Sarah Vaden attended the Ceremony with her friend Leigh Ann Clark. She was very excited to finally see her boyfriend Staff Sgt James Kazukietas who is with 1/502 2nd Brigade Combat Team. They’re just looking forward to being a normal couple and spend some quality time together after a long deployment.
Once inside, Brigadier General Jeffrey N. Colt welcomed everyone home in a short speech to the soldiers. Afterwards everyone was allowed 15 minutes of family time before heading back to their unit to turn in their gear.
