Austin Peay swept through the running events, winning all five track races. Senior Chantelle Grey took the top mark in two events – the 200m dash (25.60) and her usual 800m event, which she won with a 2:17.18 run.

Junior distance runner Xiamar Richards was impressive in the 1500m run, winning the event with a 4:47.80 run. She also pushed Grey in the 800m, placing second with a 2:19.90 run.

“CC had a strong day,” said head coach Doug Molnar. “She really took command of the 1500 and has made it difficult for me in deciding what to run her in for the conference tournament; she’s good from the 800 to the 10K.”

A pair of Lady Govs finished one-two in the 300m dash. Freshman Breigh Jones won the event with a 39.80 mark, with sophomore Erika Adams right on her heels with a 40.50 run.

Austin Peay took the top spot in two of the field events as well. Senior Lauren Lyles won the long jump with a season-best 5.61m leap. Senior Nichole Bressner won the pole vault – her second win at Governors Stadium in 2013 – with a 3.40m vault.

Senior Cenitra Hudson was runner-up behind Lyles in the long jump with a 5.48m leap. Meanwhile, senior Jasmine Foster set season-bests in both the discus (41.84m) and shot put (13.44m), finishing second to Murray State’s Tonia Pratt – the conference leader in the discus – in both events.

“I thought Jasmine had a great meet,” Molnar said. “We’ve focused a lot on our track athletes this year, but I feel like she’s been very solid in almost every meet.”

Grey will compete at this weekend’s Drake Relays, but this event represents Austin Peay’s final team meet prior to the Ohio Valley Conference Track and Field Championships, beginning May 3rd.
