Oxford, AL – Running as a pack, Austin Peay State University women’s cross country team were able to score 62 points, claiming second place at the JSU Foothills Invitational, hosted by Ohio Valley Conference rival Jacksonville State.

The Lady Govs were led by sophomore Molly Jordan who completed the five-kilometer race in 18:56.76, good for seventh place. She was followed by senior Jessica Grey (9th, 19:00.75), freshman Sarah-Emily Woodward (12th, 19:10.09), and freshman Becca Wheeler (15th, 19:41.85). The Lady Govs scoring five was rounded out by sophomore Unjala Lester (19th, 20:03.88).
Also competing for Austin Peay were Natalie Olberding (23rd, 20:19.07), Aleiha Romero (24th 20:30.89), Sarah Carpenter (30th, 20:54.8) and Michaela McGhee (42nd, 22:02.95)
“I thought we ran extremely well today,” said head coach Doug Molnar. “I thought we ran well as a pack, picking each other up when we needed it. Almost everybody ran a personal record today and it was a solid team performance.”
The Lady Govs will have another bye week before returning to action at the UE Cross Country Invitational hosted by Evansville. The five-kilometer race is scheduled for 11:00am, October 18th at Angel Mounds State Historic Site in Evansville, Indiana.
