Nashville, TN – On the heels of being named Ohio Valley Conference Softball Player of the Week, Austin Peay’s Chandler Groves was named Softball Player of the Week by the Tennessee Sports Writers Association on Tuesday, for games from March 23rd-29th.
Groves batted .556 (10-for-18) with one double, three home runs, 12 RBIs and five runs scored in five games for the Governors. The Cross Plains, Tennessee, native’s three homers either tied or put APSU ahead in their three victories during the week.
She belted a three-run homer that tied the game in the opener of a doubleheader versus Samford and hit a grand slam and added a two-run single in the second contest against the Bulldogs. The sophomore outfielder collected seven hits in the weekend series at UT Martin, going 3-for-4 with a pair of runs and a double in the first game.
Groves drove in a run and posted two hits in the second meeting with the Skyhawks and added two more hits with a solo homer and a sacrifice fly in the final meeting of the weekend.
