Nashville, TN – Austin Peay State University women’s tennis team picked up its first Ohio Valley Conference victory of the season when it swept Tennessee State 7-0, Saturday, in Nashville, TN.
In doubles play, the Lady Govs surrendered only one game to the Tigers.
At the No. 1 position, the team of seniors Ornella Di Salvo and Vanessa Tavares claimed an 8-0 victory as did the duo of sophomore Isabela Jovanovic and freshman Brittney Covington at the No. 3 slot.
The Lady Govs clinched a sweep of the doubles matches when the pairing of senior Jovana Karac and sophomore Hannah Tatlock earned an 8-1 triumph at No. 2.
In singles action, the Lady Govs made short work of their opponents. Di Salvo, Tavares, Covington, Jovanovic and Karac all claimed 6-0, 6-0 victories against their opponents. In the remaining match, Tatlock surrendered only one game while cruising to a 6-1, 6-0 victory at the No. 2 position
The Lady Govs will wrap up their season when they host Jacksonville State in a 10:00am, Friday, match at the Governors Tennis Courts.
