Clarksville, TN – After opening the season at home last weekend, Austin Peay State University (APSU) men’s tennis will travel to play in the 16-team Louisville Fall Invitational, Friday – Sunday, at the Bass-Rudd Tennis Center.
Coming off the APSU Hidden Duel, which saw the Governors go 3-1 as a team, the men’s tennis team will hit the road for the first time this season.
This is the second year consecutive year the Govs have competed in the Louisville Fall Invitational, and the fourth time in the last five years.
Last year at the Louisville Fall Invitational, the Governors had two players play for main draw championships. Former Governor Almantas Ozelis lost in the Flight A Singles Championship, and then Ozelis teamed up with then freshman Anton Damberg for the Flight A Doubles Championship.
Three Governors went undefeated in singles play at the APSU Hidden Duel. Playing in the No. 2-4 spots, Damberg, Jacob Lorino, and freshman Julius Gold each won two singles matches. Christian Edison played as the one for the Govs last weekend, going 1-1 in singles play. Freshman Thiago Nogueira was the Governors five, he also picked up a win in singles play. Gold and Nogueira, each picked up the first win of the collegiate and Austin Peay careers last weekend. Oliver Andersson did not compete for the Govs in the opening weekend.
