APSU Women’s Golf to play in Town and Country Invitational

APSU Women's GolfClarksville, TN – The Austin Peay State University (APSU) women’s golf will look to make it three straight wins at the Town and Country Invitational, hosted by Tennessee State, in their fall’s final event at McCabe Golf Course in Nashville Tennessee.

The two-day event features 18 holes each day, and a unique format wherein all five members of the lineup will play together on each hole, rather than the typical pairing with two other opponents from opposing schools.

Austin Peay State University’s fivesome will tee off at 10:20am, against opponents from Belmont, Cumberland, Lipscomb, Morehead State, Tennessee Tech and Troy, as well as the Govs and host Tigers.

APSU won the event in 2017 and 2018, with AnnaMichelle Moore and Reagan Greene both earning individual honors. With Greene, the reigning champ, departing following graduation, it’s someone else’s turn to step up on the par-70, 5,814-yard course, and two of the most likely suspects earned top-10 finishes here a year ago in sophomores Taylor Dedmen and Shelby Darnell.

Dedmen placed sixth in this event last season en route to All-Ohio Valley Conference honors, while Darnell tied for fourth and enters this season’s event on a tear, finishing no lower than 11th in her last three appearances.

Dedmen will be the No. 1 in the lineup this week, with Darnell at No. 3. In between will be junior Riley Cooper, who missed this event last season due to injury and looks to regain the form that put her comfortably inside the event’s top-20 during her freshman campaign.

After a final-round 75 in her first appearance in the lineup two weeks ago at the Lady Red Wolves Classic, freshman Payton Elkins will play as the No. 4 this week. Returning from injury, senior Meghann Stamps is scheduled to give it a go as the No. 5 after a few weeks of recovery. Junior Andrea Presilla will take off at 8:40am as the individual.

Live scoring for the event will be provided via GolfStat.com. LetsGoPeay.com will have on-the-ground updates on Twitter (@AustinPeayWGO), with a complete recap, photo gallery and stats packet following the conclusion of play each day.
