Titans Try To Keep Pace In AFC South Race

Tennessee TitansThe Titans hosted the Jacksonville Jaguars last week and used a 28-point third quarter en route to a 42-20 victory. The offense scored on its first four possessions of the third quarter, reaching the end zone four times in a span of six scrimmage plays.

Running back Derrick Henry rushed for 159 yards and two touchdowns, including touchdowns of 74 yards and seven yards. He became the first player to score two touchdowns in a 20-second span since the San Diego Chargers’ LaDainian Tomlinson (two in 15 seconds) at the Cincinnati Bengals on November 12th, 2006.

Henry enters this week’s contest nine yards away from his second consecutive 1,000-yard rushing season. His 991 rushing yards rank fourth in the NFL and second in the AFC.

Meanwhile, quarterback Ryan Tannehill was an efficient 14-of-18 passing for 259 yards and two touchdowns. He added a pair of rushing touchdowns, giving him his first career game with multiple touchdown passes and multiple touchdown runs.

With five weeks remaining in the regular season, the Titans and Colts are each within one game of first place in the AFC South. The 7-4 Houston Texans lead the division and host the New England Patriots on Sunday night.

Following their trip to Indianapolis, the Titans play another road game at the Oakland Raiders (December 8th), followed by their final two home games against the Houston Texans (December 15th) and New Orleans Saints (December 22nd). They conclude the regular season at Houston (December 29th).

About the Indianapolis Colts

Indianapolis ColtsThe Colts will have 10 days to prepare for the Titans following last week’s Thursday night matchup at Houston. They took a four-point lead into the fourth quarter against the Texans but ultimately fell by a final score of 20-17.

Colts quarterback Jacoby Brissett passed for 129 yards and rushed for a touchdown, while running back Jonathan Williams rushed for 104 yards and a score.

Brissett is in his fourth NFL season and his third campaign with the Colts. He was named the full-time starter prior to the season when Andrew Luck announced his retirement, and through 11 games, his season passing totals include 1,926 passing yards, 15 touchdowns and four interceptions.

Like Tennessee’s Mike Vrabel, Indianapolis head coach Frank Reich is in his second season at the helm. He became the third head coach in Colts history to win a playoff game in his first season.
