Clarksville, TN – The Clarksville Police Department (CPD) reports that the driver of one of the vehicles involved in the head-on collision on Ashland City Road yesterday evening has died as a result of his injuries.
The victim, 50-year-old Thomas Smith of Clarksville, was transported to Tennova Healthcare, where he was pronounced deceased. His next of kin have been notified.
It was initially reported that one of the drivers had been flown by helicopter; however, that was not the case. Two passengers from the second vehicle were airlifted to Nashville and are currently listed in stable condition.
The preliminary investigation indicates that Mr. Smith crossed over the center lane and into the path of the second vehicle.
