Columbia, SC – After a loss on the road Wednesday, the 21st-ranked Tennessee Volunteers will look to bounce back with a win over South Carolina at Colonial Life Arena on Saturday, January 20th, 2018. The game will tip at 5:00pm CT and will be televised live on ESPN2 and streamed online via WatchESPN.
The Vols (12-5, 3-3 SEC) rallied back from a 10-point deficit with less than seven minutes remaining against Missouri earlier in the week but fell short after a turnover in the finals seconds of the game.

The Vols (15-13, 7-8 SEC) and Gamecocks (20-8, 10-5 SEC) each come into Saturday’s game looking to grab some late-season momentum. Tennessee is trying to get back on track following a 67-56 loss to Vanderbilt on Wednesday night while South Carolina aims to snap a streak of three consecutive losses.

Tennessee (8-8, 1-3 SEC) shot just 32.7 percent in a game that was even on turnovers (each team had 22) and nearly even off the glass as South Carolina (13-3, 3-0 SEC) had 38 rebounds to the Vols 37. The big difference was 3-point shooting. The Gamecocks were 7-for-13 from beyond the arc while the Vols suffered a 1-for-11 night.

Without the services of leading scorer Kevin Punter Jr. (22.2 ppg), Tennessee pieced together a total team effort en route to an 81-65 victory against the Tigers.

Knoxville, TN – A career-high 36 points from Kevin Punter carried Tennessee to its first win over a ranked opponent in more than a year with a 78-69 victory over No. 24/18 South Carolina Saturday afternoon at Thompson-Boling Arena.
The Vols’ last victory over a ranked foe came against No. 19 Arkansas, a 74-69 win, also at Thompson-Boling Arena on January 13th, 2015.
Tennessee’s leading scorer on the season, Punter’s 36 points marked his third 30-point performance of the year. Six of his eight field goals came from beyond the 3-point line. He was nearly flawless, 14-of-15, from the free throw stripe, part of a 30-for-32 performance at the line for the Volunteers.
