Austin Peay State University Lady Govs - APSUTampa, FL – Austin Peay State University’s volleyball team stole a set in a loss to host South Florida in Saturday’s opening match before securing its season’s first win with a three-set sweep of The Citadel to conclude its stay at the USF Invitational.

APSU Lady Govs Volleyball opens the season at USF Invitational Friday

 

Austin Peay State University Lady Govs - APSUTampa, FL – Year Two of the Taylor Mott era begins in Florida as Austin Peay State University’s volleyball team will play four matches in the season-opening USF Invitational hosted by South Florida, Friday-Saturday.

The Lady Govs will begin the season with a 10:00am (CT), Friday contest against Miami followed by a 3:30pm outing against Ball State. Austin Peay’s Saturday at the tourney begins with a 1:00pm affair against host USF before a 3:30pm tournament-concluding contest against The Citadel.

Former APSU Football Coach Bill Schmitz Dies

 

Austin Peay State University Governors Sports - APSUTampa, FL – Former Austin Peay State University coach Bill Schmitz has died at the age of 59. His death was confirmed Monday following an apparent suicide jump from the Sunshine Skyway Bridge in Tampa.

A longtime coach, Schmitz had a lengthy coaching resume that included stops at Cincinnati, Rice, Vanderbilt and Eastern Michigan before getting his first head coaching job with the United States Coast Guard Academy.

Bagram Air Field, Afghanistan – When warfighters off in remote isolated bases need supplies, and need it fast, they call on the Task Force Lifeliner rigger team. Recently the riggers received a request for something that had never been delivered by air — tires.

That’s when the 647th Quartermaster Detachment in support of Task Force Lifeliner at Bagram Air Field, Afghanistan, put their rigging skills to the test and answered the call.

Austin Peay State University Lady Govs Volleyball releases 2013 Schedule

 

Austin Peay State University Lady GovsClarksville, TN – Contests against Southeastern Conference foes Tennessee and Missouri highlight the Austin Peay State University women’s volleyball 2013 schedule, head coach Taylor Mott released Monday.

Austin Peay , which posted a 17-16 record last season, will begin the 2013 campaign with 16 away games – the opening weekend in August and the entirety of September. The Lady Govs will open a nine-match home slate with an October 1st contest against Murray State.
