Officers in conjunction with the fire department quickly determined the fire was Arson and located and detained the man responsible, Ricky Jackson, who was walking in the immediate area.

An investigation by Detective Howard Gillespie determined Ricky Jackson, angry over separation from his family, broke into the shed at 24 Hayes Street, took a full 5 gallon gas can from the shed, broke out the window of the front door of the residence owned by his estranged wife and went inside.

He poured about three gallons of gasoline on the carpet in three separate rooms, left the remaining gasoline in the gas can, set the house on fire, and then walked out the door. There was over $40,000 damage to the residence.
