Austin Peay (11-20, 8-6 OVC) got off to a slow start, posting a negative-.098 attack percentage in the opening set with eight kills and 12 attack errors.

They recovered to force six ties and five lead changes in the second set, but did not have an answer in the third set which host Southeast Missouri led wire-to-wire.

Southeast Missouri (15-15, 6-6 OVC) had little trouble on offense, recording an impressive 45 kills in the three-set affair and posting a .388 attack percentage. After a nine-kill outing in the opening set, the Redhawks dominated the second and third frames with 18 kills in each set.

“We have struggled with our decision making the past few matches and it really hurt us tonight,” said Lady Govs head coach Taylor Mott. “The 12 errors in the first set were disappointing, we improved that number in the second and third sets but then we couldn’t stop Southeast Missouri’s offense. Lauren (Henderson) showed up ready to play in her final match in her home state.”

Henderson, who hails from Fredericktown, Mo. which is just one hour from Southeast Missouri’s campus, led the Lady Govs with a 10-kill, three service-ace performance. Junior Jada Stotts posted nine kills but was held to a .138 attack percentage.

Emily Coon led Southeast Missouri with 17 kills and finished with no errors for a .810 attack percentage. Colleen Yarber added 11 kills for the Redhawks.

Austin Peay continues its four-match road trip with a 7:00pm, Tuesday contest at Murray State.
