Clarksville, TN – Two Govs finish in second place as the Austin Peay State women’s tennis team completed its fall home tournament, the APSU Fall Invitational.
In Flight 1, Lidia Yanes Garcia opened play with a bye before cruising to the finals after a pair of straight set wins. She defeated UT-Martin’s Assel Jumamukhambetova 6-3, 6-1 in the quarterfinals before topping Lewis’ Dora Andrejszki, 6-1, 6-1 in the semifinals.

However in the finals, Yanes Garcia fell to UT-Martin’s Sarah Candeloro, 6-3, 6-2.
In Flight 2, Ana Albertson opened with a bye before defeating Murray State’s Sara Bjork, 4-6, 6-2 (10-8). She responded with a 6-1, 6-1 win over fellow teammate Brittney Covington, 6-3, 6-1 to advance into the finals where she was defeated in the tiebreaker, 6-3, 7-6 (10-3) to Central Arkansas’ Marli Van Heerden.
The Govs saw four players advance to the semifinals in the two singles flights, while in the doubles flight two APSU teams saw action in the semifinals.
The women’s tennis team will return to action Saturday October, 1st at Evansville for their next fall tournament.
