Tennessee Volunteers - UT VolsKnoxville, TN – Tennessee football head coach Jeremy Pruitt cannot wait to step on the field at Bank of America Stadium and face No. 17/20 West Virginia on Saturday at 3:30pm.
 
The first-year head coach has been on the jobs for nine months, and his closest thing to coaching game action was the Vols’ annual DISH Orange & White Game in the spring.
 
UT began official game week preparation for the season-opening Belk College Kickoff on Monday at the Anderson Training Center.

Billed as the The Battle on Broadway, presented by Farm Bureau Insurance of Tennessee, tip-off is slated for 3:00pm CT on ESPN2.

The Vols (6-4) journeyed west for another neutral site showdown with the Bulldogs (10-0) in Seattle last season. Gonzaga emerged with an 86-79 victory.

Tennessee is playing its fourth game in eight days — a stretch that began last Sunday when the Vols were narrowly edged by No. 7 North Carolina, 73-71, in Chapel Hill.

Tennessee Volunteers - UT VolsKnoxville, TN – Tennessee hosts in-state and I-40 foe Tennessee Tech on Tuesday night at Thompson-Boling Arena with tipoff set for 6:00pm CT on the SEC Network.

The Vols (4-4) are looking to bounce back from a narrow defeat at the hands of No. 7 North Carolina on Sunday night and grab their 14th consecutive home victory during the month of December.

Tennessee got a big showing from its leading scorer, Robert Hubbs III, in Chapel Hill. The senior scored 21 points on 9-of-11 shooting to boost his season average to 14.8 points per game. Hubbs is joined in double figures by redshirt freshman Lamonte Turner at 10.3 ppg.

#7 North Carolina rallies to beat Tennessee Vols 73-71

Tennessee Volunteers - UT VolsChapel Hill, NC – Tennessee led No. 7 North Carolina by five with just 4:32 remaining in regulation on Sunday at the Dean E. Smith Center, but the upset bid came up short as the Tar Heels outscored UT 10-5 over the decisive stretch, handing the Vols a 73-71 loss.

Tennessee (4-4) was led by senior Robert Hubbs III, who scored a game-high 21 points on 9-of-11 shooting. He also had a team-high six rebounds. Freshman Jordan Bowden added 12 points with five boards.

After leading by as many as 15 in the first half, the Vols successfully fended off North Carolina’s (10-1) comeback attempts for much of the second half.

Tennessee Vols take care of Presbyterian, 90-50

Tennessee Volunteers - UT VolsKnoxville, TN Lamonte Turner scored a career-high 24 points, Jordan Bowden added a career-best 21 and Tennessee tied the school record with 16 made 3-pointers to storm past Presbyterian for a 90-50 win on Tuesday at Thompson-Boling Arena.

The Vols (4-3) shot 16-of-33 from 3-point range, tying for the most 3-pointers made in program history and UT’s most since making 16 against UNC Asheville on November 17th, 2009. Tennessee has now drained 16 3-pointers six times in program history.

Congressman Marsha Blackburn’s father dies

 

Congresswoman Marsha Blackburn at her Town Hall Meeting in Clarksville, TN

Clarksville, TN –  Congressman Marsha Blackburn is dealing with the loss of her father after Hilman Wedgeworth passed away Wednesday.

Mr. Wedgeworth was a retired sales and management professional from Armco Steel/National Supply Company and co-owner of M&D Sales in Laurel Mississippi.  He served his country as a member of the US Army during WWII.
