95 Austin Peay State University student-athletes earn OVC academic honors

 

Ohio Valley Conference - OVCBrentwood, TN – Ninety-five Austin Peay State University student-athletes were recognized on the Ohio Valley Conference’s Commissioner’s Honor Roll for their academic achievements during the 2013-14 academic year. That total included 15 student-athletes who received the league’s Academic Medal of Honor.

“The greatest metric of our success at Austin Peay is our commitment to excellence in the classroom,” said van der Merwe. “The student-athletes at this great University are special and represent the very best of the Ohio Valley Conference. We are proud of what this says about our student-athletes, our University, and the many great faculty and staff to rally behind our students every day.”

APSU Lady Govs Softball swept by Samford Bulldogs

Austin Peay State University Lady Govs - APSUBirmingham, AL – Austin Peay State University’s softball team was swept in a doubleheader, Wednesday, by former Ohio Valley Conference member Samford University, 11-1 and 6-5.

It was the first meeting between the two programs since March 2008, when the Bulldogs were still an OVC member.

Austin Peay State University has 174 student athletes named to Fall honor roll

 

APSU - Austin Peay State University SportsClarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University’s 331 student-athletes posted a 2.944 grade-point average during the recently completed Fall 2013 semester, the athletics department announced Tuesday.

The 2.944 cumulative GPA accumulated by the department’s student-athletes was the fourth-best mark in program history. It also is the third consecutive semester the group posted a 2.90 GPA or better.

APSU Lady Govs Softball sweeps Dyersburg State to wrap up 3-0 weekend

 

Austin Peay State University Lady Govs - APSUClarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University’s softball team wrapped up its opening weekend of fall play, September 22nd at Cheryl Holt Field, by pounding out 26 hits in a doubleheader sweep of Dyersburg State Community College, by finals of 11-0 and 10-2.

The wins improve the Lady Govs to 3-0 so far this fall, having also picked up a 7-4 win against Rend Lake (IL) Community College September 20th.

Austin Peay State University Lady Govs Softball brings in big Summer Class

 

Austin Peay State University Lady Govs - APSUClarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University head softball coach Stephanie Paris is pleased to announce the addition of eight student-athletes set to join the Lady Govs roster in Fall 2013, bringing her total signing class to 12 players.

“We really hit the pavement looking for players,” said Paris. “We got a couple of last-minute finds that will help us tremendously, especially offensively.”
