Austin Peay State University Lady Govs - APSUClarksville, TN – Austin Peay women’s basketball team (3-12, 0-2 OVC) begins its longest road trip of the 2013-14 campaign when it visits the Murray State Racers (7-7, 0-2 OVC) for a 5:15pm, Saturday, Ohio Valley Conference contest at the CFSB Center.

Govs gain first shutout since 2003 in downing Marauders, 40-0

Austin Peay State University GovernorsClarksville, TN – Ryan White rushed for 146 yards and two touchdowns while Tee Howell returned a third-quarter punt 65 yards for a score as Austin Peay State University defeated Central State, 40-0, Saturday in non-conference football action at Governors Stadium.

The victory snapped a Governors four-game losing streak and improved them to 3-6 on the season. Central State, an independent Division II team from Wilberforce, Ohio, fell to 1-9 on the season.

Governors place six players in double figures in downing Central Missouri, 107-96

Austin Peay State University GovernorsClarksville, TN – Six Austin Peay State University players scored in double figures as the Governors rallied from a 12-point first-half deficit to defeat Central Missouri, 107-96, in exhibition men’s basketball action, Thursday night, in Dave Aaron Arena.

The contest was the first exhibition for both teams. Central Missouri is a Division II powerhouse from Warrensburg, MO, which has an assistant coach, Brad Loos, the son of APSU head coach Dave Loos.

Missed opportunities costs Lady Govs Soccer

Austin Peay State University Lady GovsClarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University women’s soccer team suffered its second-straight loss, falling 2-0 to UT Martin, in Ohio Valley Conference play, Sunday afternoon.

The Skyhawks (6-3-2; 1-0-1 OVC) took an early 1-0 lead on a header by Alyssa Curtis. An Austin Peay (6-5; 0-2 OVC) foul set up the indirect kick and Curtis managed to break free inside the box for the goal. UT Martin scored the insurance goal in the 48th minute.

Breakdown leads to OVC-opening loss for Lady Govs soccer

Austin Peay State University Lady GovsClarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University women’s soccer dropped its Ohio Valley Conference opener, 3-1, to Southeast Missouri, Friday night.

On the opening night of OVC soccer, conference-wide, the Lady Govs (6-4; 0-1 OVC) found themselves searching for offense against a Southeast Missouri (5-2-1; 1-0 OVC) team that entered the match having allowed only 12 goals all season. Austin Peay managed to outshoot the Redhawks, but struggled to find the back of the net.

Xavier shuts out APSU Soccer for first time

Austin Peay State University Lady GovsCincinnati, OH – Austin Peay State University women’s soccer dropped a 1-0, double-overtime, decision at Xavier, Sunday.

Not only was it the Lady Govs first extra-time game this season, it also was the first time APSU has been shutout since October 15th, 2010 vs. Morehead State ending a streak of 16 straight games with a goal.

Five different Lady Govs score in soccer shutout at Lipscomb

Austin Peay State University Lady GovsClarksville, TN – An atypical Thursday night game turned into a shutout win for Austin Peay State University women’s soccer team, 5-0, against Lipscomb, at Cofer Chapel Field.

Five different players scored as the Lady Govs (6-2) battled to overcome last weekend’s lost at South Alabama. Austin Peay – the nation’s highest scoring team – ran like a well-oiled machine against the Bisons (2-5-1), scoring two first-half goals and finishing with three in final 45 minutes.

Austin Peay State University Lady GovsMobile, AL – Austin Peay State University women’s soccer team came up short in a 2-1 loss to South Alabama, Sunday, to wrap up the Port City Classic in Mobile, AL.

The Lady Govs fell to 5-2 overall, while it was the Jaguars seventh-straight win improving them to 7-1 overall.

Perkins and Ariza lead APSU soccer to win against Troy

Austin Peay State University Lady GovsMobile, AL – After seeing its offensive production slowed during the homestand, Austin Peay State University women’s soccer team opened the Port City Classic with a 2-1 win against Troy, Friday afternoon, in Mobile, AL.

The Lady Govs (5-1), who had 12 shots combined against Western Kentucky and Belmont, outshot the Trojans 18-11 en route to victory against the team that handed APSU its first loss during the 2010 campaign. Sophomore Tatiana Ariza led Austin Peay with five shots, all on goal, while junior Emily Perkins and sophomore Morgan Zigelsky each had three shots.
