Clarksville High School Boys Basketball to meet Cherokee in State Tournament

Clarksville Sports NetworkClarksville, TN – The Clarksville High School boys basketball team will face Cherokee High, Wednesday at 5:00pm, in the quarter-finals of the state high school basketball tournament.

A day after the Clarksville High School girls were eliminated from the tournament, coach Ted Young and his squad learned of their first match-up, in their quest for a state title. This is the fourth trip in the last six years for Young and his team.

Clarksville will be making its twelfth trip to the state tournament, at the Murphy Center, and is the only team in the field to make it back after competing in last year’s competition. The boys tournament is expected to be wide open, after many of the ranked 3A teams were eliminated in region and sectional games.

WJZM/WJZM.com will have the broadcasts of every Clarksville High School game in the tournament. Listen to 1400AM for the broadcasts.

Cherokee comes to the tournament with at 26-8 record, and is relatively new to the atmosphere of a state high school tournament. The Chiefs have spent much of the past several games playing teams under the sixty point mark, and Coach Ted Young says their style can adapt to its opponent.

Young says Cherokee will be “very, very hungry. despite their tournament inexperience.”
