The seven-team tourney also will include Evansville, Lipscomb, Tennessee Tech and Trevecca, UAB and host Belmont. The 36-hole tourney (18 each day) will be played on the par-71, 6,044-yard course.

The Lady Govs are coming off a 10th-place tie in the Saluki Invitational, APSU’s first spring tournament. After a struggling first day, the Lady Govs bounced back to play much better Monday in the tourney’s final round.

Holly BateyAPSU head coach Sara Robson expects her team to build from that performance.

“At SIU we had way too many mental mistakes in the first round,” Robson said. “We were much more mentally tough on the second day.

“We need to get a good start at Old Hickory on Monday so we can gain some confidence and have a strong finish.  We have played this course a few times and need to be able to hit fairways and greens to score well.  But we can’t do that without being strong mentally which is why that needs to be our focus.”

Tabitha BeardAll eight Lady Govs could play this week, with the top qualifying five (junior Holly Batey, redshirt sophomore Tabitha Beard, freshman Meghan Mueller, sophomore Rachel Deaton and senior Ashley Averitt) representing APSU for the team score while junior Lauren Bond and sophomore Tala Mumford  playing as individuals. The status of Marta Gutierrez is uncertain as the freshman suffered an ankle injury in last week’s tournament at Southern Illinois. If she is able to play, Gutierrez will compete as an individual.

Monday’s round will begin with a 10:00am, shotgun start followed by a 9:30am shotgun start on Tuesday.
