Clarksville Police Department (CPD)
Clarksville, TN – Recently, the Clarksville Police Department advised drivers about the reduction in the speed limit from 45 to 35 mph in the construction area in both directions on Highway 48/13 and about CPD’s additional enforcement in the area.
In a three day period, January 15th-17th, Clarksville Police wrote 48 city citations. Most of the citations were for speeds exceeding 15 mph or over the posted speed limit of 35 mph.
The highest speed noted in the area was 65 mph.
To further ensure the safety of the construction workers in the area, CPD will continue its increased enforcement in the area.
Costs for citations for speeding in a construction zone can vary between $140.00 to $474.50, depending on whether the citation is written for city or state court, and has a point assessment on your license from 2-8 points. The construction area goes beyond the boundary of the city limits into the county, but CPD will only enforce the 35 mph speed within the city limits.
For the safety of the workers, please slow down.
