Nashville Sounds edge out Omaha Storm Chasers, 4-3

 

Nashville SoundsNashville, TN – The Nashville Sounds were tied 3-3 with the Omaha Storm Chasers when in the bottom of the eighth, Tim Federowicz cranked his first home run of the season to give the team a 4-3 lead and the win.

The first run of the game was scored by the Sounds in the bottom of the first inning. Nick Solak led off with a single to extend his hitting streak to 17 games. After a Ronald Guzman walk, Solak scored on an RBI single by Matt Davidson for the Sounds’ early 1-0 lead.

Solak also led the third inning off with a single and Andy Ibanez followed him with his own single to make it first and third with nobody out. Solak scored after Guzman grounded into a double play. It was then 2-0, Nashville.

Clarksville Police report Two Men Shot While in Moving Vehicle

 

Clarksville Police Department - CPDClarksville, TN – Clarksville Police are processing a crime scene near 101st Airborne Division Parkway at the intersection of Peachers Mill Road and McClardy Road.

Based on information provided by witnesses, around 3:30pm, a white Dodge Charger with two men inside, was traveling south on Peachers Mill Road when a male inside of another white Dodge Charger, 2000s model, also traveling south started shooting at the two men.

Tennessee Titans last game against New England Patriots

 

Tennessee TitansNashville, TN – In Week 10 of the 2018 season, the Tennessee Titans hosted the New England Patriots and won by a score of 34-10.

On the opening kickoff, WR Darius Jennings returned the ball 58 yards and helped set the tone for Tennessee. As the Titans offense took the field, QB Marcus Mariota constructed a seven-play, 40-yard scoring drive that resulted in a four-yard touchdown pass to TE Jonnu Smith, as Tennessee put up points early, 7-0.

Three APSU Teams receive OVC Team Academic Achievement Award

 

Austin Peay State University Sports - APSU - Governors - Lady GovsBrentwood, TN – Austin Peay State University (APSU) has three teams, the most since 2008-09, recognized as the best in the classroom by the Ohio Valley Conference, Wednesday, receiving the league’s Team Academic Achievement Award in their respective sports.  

The Governors men’s golf, women’s golf and men’s tennis squads each earned their respective Team Academic Achievement Award. It is the sixth time the women’s golf and men’s tennis programs nabbed a Team Academic Achievement Award while the men’s golf team earned its second award all time.

NASA launches Student-built CubeSat Into Space with SlingShot

 

NASA - National Aeronautics and Space AdministrationWashington, D.C. – NASA reports that the student-built CubeSat—Radio Frequency Tag Satellite (RFTSat)— was deployed in space on August 7th, 2019 using a one of a kind deployment dispenser called SlingShot.  This image shows the Cygnus cargo spacecraft departing the space station with SlingShot payloads in preparation for deployment activities.

RFTSat was designed by students and faculty at Northwest Nazarene University in Nampa, Idaho, and was selected through NASA’s CubeSat Launch Initiative (CSLI) to fly as an auxiliary payload on SpaceX’s 18th commercial cargo resupply services mission to the International Space Station—which launched July 25th, 2019 from Cape Canaveral, Florida.
