New England’s offense took the field and responded with their own scoring drive.

Patriots QB Tom Brady connected with Patriots WR Josh Gordon for a 44-yard reception that flipped field position, but the Titans defense held up as New England was forced to settle for a 52-yard field goal. The Patriots got on the board, 7-3.

On the ensuing Tennessee possession, the Titans engineered another touchdown drive. With first down rushes by RB Dion Lewis (two), and RB Derrick Henry, and a first down reception by WR Corey Davis, the drive culminated in a 23-yard receiving score from Mariota to Davis. Tennessee doubled its lead, 14-3. Also in the first quarter, K Ryan Succop tacked on a 33-yard field goal as the Titans scored 17 points in the first quarter and posted a 17-3 lead.

On the following drive, Davis, who ultimately finished the day with 125 receiving yards, helped the Titans battle back from a second-and-17 as he grabbed a 20-yard pass to move the chains. Smith and TE Anthony Firkser also converted first downs, to set up a one-yard rushing score by Henry.

The Titans tacked on their third touchdown of the first half and went ahead, 24-10. The Patriots began driving on the following possession, but CB Logan Ryan halted New England’s momentum and closed out the first half with a seven-yard sack of Brady.

In the third quarter, Tennessee put together a 10-play, 78-yard scoring drive with help by a 26-yard reception by WR Cameron Batson, a 27-yard reception by Davis, and a 20-yard scamper by Mariota, all of which went for first downs. Succop converted a 31-yard kick, as the Titans increased their lead, 27-10. New England punted on all of its third-quarter possessions.

In the fourth quarter, Tennessee secured the victory with another score. The Titans moved down the field with help from a trick play, as Jennings passed the ball 21 yards to Mariota.
