Nashville, TN – In Week 3 of the 2019 season, the Tennessee Titans traveled to Jacksonville Jaguars to face the Jaguars in a primetime Thursday Night Football matchup. Despite allowing Jacksonville just 12 first downs, and yielding only two conversions on 11 third-down attempts, Tennessee lost by a score of 20-7.
On Jacksonville’s opening possession, the Tennessee defense forced the Jaguars to go three-and-out. CB Adoree’ Jackson was back deep to return the ball, but fumbled the punt and turned it over to Jacksonville at the Tennessee seven-yard line.
Jaguars QB Gardner Minshew capitalized on the turnover by tossing a seven-yard touchdown pass to Jaguars TE James O’Shaughnessy for an early 7-0 lead.
Later in the first quarter, Jacksonville tacked on another score with a six-play, 62-yard scoring drive that culminated in a 22-yard touchdown pass from Minshew to Jaguars WR DJ Chark Jr. Jacksonville doubled the lead, 14-0.
In the third quarter, with help from a 37-yard reception by Chark and a 15-yard reception by Jaguars WR Chris Conley, Jacksonville found their way into Titans territory.
Ultimately, the Titans defense forced the Jaguars to settle for a 40-yard field goal as Jacksonville extended the lead, 17-0.
Tennessee was able to construct a seven-play scoring drive in the fourth quarter. QB Marcus Mariota tossed a 29-yard reception to TE Delanie Walker, as well as 11 and 14-yard passes to WR Corey Davis to help move the chains. Mariota contributed a nine yard rush from the Jacksonville 10-yard line to inch the offense closer, as ultimately RB Derrick Henry ran into the endzone for a one-yard score. The Titans got on the board, 17-7.
Later in the fourth quarter, Jacksonville tacked on another field goal as Jaguars K Josh Lambo successfully converted a 48-yard attempt. Jacksonville extended the lead to 20-7, and preserved the score for a victory.
